Iglika participated in the Training Course “Stay safe in cyber space” organized by PROJUVEN in Torremolinos, Spain
Hello Iglika! Can you give us your opinion about the project “Stay safe in cyber space“?
I consider the project very useful and helpful and I’m glad I had the opportunity to be part of it. As a newbie in projects of this kind, I really appreciate that the information was given in such a way so that it can be understood easily by everyone. Also, I’m very impressed that the project was perfectly organized, despite all the difficulties resulting from the pandemic. However, I managed to learn a lot of new things, meet new people from different countries, but most importantly, I learned how to protect myself from dangers in the online world.
What are your tips on staying safe online?
My personal advice is to be careful what exactly you post, having in mind that once published it can never be deleted – it stays forever. We should never share information which we will regret in the future. Also, too personal details are to be avoided – like sharing our location, the places we visit, pictures of our home and so on. Nowadays, social media has a great impact on everything and everyone so we should be aware of it and be very careful using it. So my main tip is – Think twice before you post something online – you never know what the consequences will be.
What is the most important thing you have learned during the training? How do you plan to share and use your knowledge?
The most important thing I learned during the training is that we need to be ready to put ourselves into others’ shoes. We should be able to see situations from different perspectives. When it comes to cyberbullying this skill is rather necessary – something can be a joke for you, but to someone else it can be an insult! I learned that we all have our freedom in online space, but it finishes at the point where freedom of other people starts. Personally, I will share my new knowledge at home with my younger brother and his friends, so they can be more prepared for what to expect from cyber space and to know how to protect themselves. As they say – ‘change starts at home’!
