This project was very interesting and at the same time very useful to me. I discovered a lot of information and even examples of measures taken to incorporate this topic in education/government from various countries. The project incorporated not only daily effective discussions, but also a lot of practical tasks which made us all share experience and think outside of the box. I left this project with more knowledge, interest and motivation to expand more on this topic in my own country and on my own time. The experience in Spain was also very fun and we had a lot of time together to explore as well and share learning with roaming around.

How has your perspective changed about fake news as a result of participating in this training course? What were the most valuable takeaways from the course for you personally?

My perspective changed in a way that made me consider more things/news as “fact or distorted information”. I also have a lot more resources which I found during our teamwork projects and discussions about fact checking. Learning about the different types of fake news instantly pointed my attention to figuring out which kind of fake news are going around on a daily basis around me and now my first thought always goes in that direction.

According to you, what are some effective methods to educate young people about fake news?

Effective methods to educate young people in my opinion is including such classes/information in educational programs, starting from kids, to teenagers, to young adults. Another option is having projects such as Erasmus+ once are also an interesting and effective way to raise this topic among young people. Public discussions on social media which is nowadays young people’s main source of education is also a perfect channel to raise more awareness on what and how to discover fake news, what is the purpose of it and thus what should be your reaction to it.
