From November 17th to 26th 2016, Asociación PROJUVEN participated in the Erasmus+ project “First Be Human” in Collesano (Italy), organized by Associazione YUD (Italy).
The “First Be Human” project is a Youth Exchange involving 20 young people from organizations located in 5 different countries: YUD from Italy, Asociación Projuven from Spain, Danube Volunteering Center from Romania, Eurocircle from France and Youth Mobility Center from Greece. This project aims to educate young generations to be able to make good relations with migrants and in general with the most disadvantaged groups, taking a new perspective aimed to increase the sense of friendship and solidarity, breaking prejudices and stereotypes, which clearly lead to social tensions. Through non-formal education workshops and activities focused on the theme of multiculturalism, conceived as richness and not as a threat, participants will have the opportunity to experience different moments of shared reflection on this theme so that they will have the chance to express their opinions, ideas, fears. Through meetings, debates and round tables in which will also participate resident migrants, or by visiting and working in a shelter for migrants in Palermo, participants will have the opportunity to come into direct contact with the reality of immigration in the area, where landings are frequent. This project also aims to create a cultural space of exchange and dialogue in which all associations can share their experiences, describing the migrants’ situation in their countries. Different activities will allow the participants to be strictly in contact with the immigrants living in Palermo, to which they will do some interviews to understand the reasons that led them to leave their country coming in Europe. These interviews, together with the main activities of the exchange will be filmed, so that at the end the group will create a video which will be useful to spread the activities during the dissemination phase.
