From 17th of April to 25th of April, 2017, the representatives of Asociación Projuven took part in the Erasmus+ project “Volunteering – Journey to Success” in Castellammare di Stabia (Italy), coordinated by “Active Youth For Europe”. In the project took part participants from Spain, Cipro, Rumania, Bulgaria, Estonia and Italy.

The main objective of the project “Volunteering – Journey to success” was to provide awareness of the situation of young unemployed people and to promote volunteering as a tool to combat youth unemployment through the acquisition of various skills and experiences in order to equip the youth workers with the learning outcomes and the necessary tools for personal and professional development.

During the seven days, the youngsters have participated in workshops and panel discussions, in order to develop their skills to work as a team and become aware of the current labor situation and also in outdoor activities with the purpose to provide assistance to the city and knowing the organization and the culture of the host territory. The topics covered during the discussions were cultural integration, youth unemployment in European Union countries and European Voluntary projects, inviting the young participants to try to find solutions in the workplace and make proposals at European level.

Among the different activities in which they have been dedicated, with the collaboration of  “Forum Dei Giovani di Castellammare” there are the encounter with voluntary associations, the cleaning of the beach of Catellammare di Stabia, the participation and the organization of an intercultural night, where foods, cultures and typical dances of the six countries have been mixed. In addition the participation to the football match of Juve di Stabia and the visits of the thermal baths and the archaeological ruins of Villa Arianna and Villa di San Marco, were some of the activities offered to the participants during their free time.

In this way, through various voluntary activities, the participants have had the opportunity to experience together the joy that comes from donating time to others. In fact,”Volunteering – Journey to Success” has been not only a great time for personal growth, but also an invitation to the whole city to reflect on the opportunities that Europe offers and on the role that each of us can and must have in contributing to a better world.
