From 4 to 11 of November, 2021, in the framework of the KA1 project “Welcome Friends”, PROJUVEN had the pleasure to host in Torremolinos, Spain, youth workers coming from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Lithuania and Spain. The project was coordinated by the German NGO, Copernicus Berlin e.V, and hosted and facilitated by PROJUVEN.
The main aim of the project was to equip youth workers with knowledge and skills to favor and help the integration of the young people who arrived as refugees or forced migrants in their communities.
In this regard, the specific objectives of the project for youth workers were: to discover the challenges which appear in the communities in Europe connected with the forced migration and refugees; to learn about the methods which can be used to help young refugees or forced migrants to get integrated into the local communities; to learn about how youth can be active on the local to help in the integration of the forced migrants and refugees; to create local projects aimed at integration of the young people coming as refugees or forced migrants; to promote international cooperation in the youth field; to disseminate the importance of Erasmus+ in changing young people’s lives and support the integration of young people of migrant origins.
During the project week, participants had the chance to discover what is the current situation in each of the represented countries, the new refugees’ route, mainly through Belarussian, Polish and Lithuanian borders, as well as participants had the opportunity to discuss what is the role of each young person in the integration and inclusion of migrants and refugees in the local societies. Activities were carried out through non-formal way including energizers, workshops, world cafe, presentations, teambuilding games and discussions. The project foreseen also two outdoor sessions, one at the beach and other one dedicated to raise awareness about the topic and Erasmus + programme to the local population.
