Aiza participated in the Training Course “Good Jobs Green Jobs” organized by PROJUVEN in Benalmádena, Spain
Hello Aiza! Can you give us your opinion about the project “Good Jobs Green Jobs“?
It was my first time participating in an Erasmus + project. I have a background in environmental engineering, but this project taught me a lot about the green economy and green jobs that I didn’t know before. Aside from the events, I’ve had a terrific experience meeting new people from other nations and learning about new cultures. Our trainers were excellent, and the activities and teaching methods made the topic more understandable.
Why is promoting the green economy so crucial? How can the green and just transition benefit the job career of young people?
The economic system requires a change toward environmental sustainability and better resource efficiency, as well as enhanced and wiser use of green technology and innovations to boost resilience to environmental pressures and dangers. Working toward a green economy increases poor people’s opportunities and choices by increasing their access to a clean and safe environment; it promotes human security by preventing or resolving conflicts over land, food, water, and other natural resources; it promotes ecosystems, food, and health; it promotes resources, such as improved quality and quantity of natural resources, and reduces pollution or degradation of air, water, and lands.
Addressing environmental governance and political economy challenges, as well as managing winners and losers across actors and sectors, are all part of green economy reforms. Businesses that pollute the environment will lose money, while new greener actors will arise, employ, and profit. This is true, for example, in the energy industry, where solar and wind energy businesses will create more employment while reducing market share for oil and coal. This will happen in many sectors which will create a huge impact on young people’s careers.
What is the most important thing you have learned during the training? How do you plan to share and use your knowledge?
The most important thing I learnt throughout the course was how essential the green environment is in our lives, especially in the lives of young people, and how many chances the EU provides. I met many wonderful people because of this project, and I hope to work with some of them again in the future. I realized that the objective of a business should be more than just profit and that we should live a more environmentally friendly existence. I want to share this information with my friends and family so that everyone can begin helping to make the world a healthier place while also preparing for the future employment that will be created because of this transformation.
