#PJstories – Interview with Sveatoslav Beglița

Sveatoslav Beglița participated in the Training Course “The NEET Challenge” organized by PROJUVEN in Torremolinos, Spain

Hello Sveatoslav! Can you give us your opinion about the project “The NEET Challenge“? According to you, what support works best for young people at risk of becoming NEET?

The NEET Challenge represents a prominent issue of XXI century. Even if we speak that people have access to information, digital technologies, and multiple educational opportunities, still there is a huge issue of NEET people. People who do not want to do something, which cannot find an interest in something or their place to be involved in.

The NEET challenge project was a great opportunity for multiple participants from different countries to discover a new topic and issue in the contemporary life. Participants had a chance to learn deeper about this matter and to analyze the situation in their countries, so to understand that even if in their countries the society doesn’t speak about it the problem still exist and need to be solved.

The factors that young people are seen incompetent, not ready to work, not enough experienced influence this category not to believe in their abilities, skills and make them to become passive and as a risk group of becoming NEET. Therefore, I would strongly encourage youth involvement in multiple activities, civil society processes, state processes. We need to build up their trust in themselves and to grow their potential. Starting with schools, the pupils need to be encouraged to participate in projects, extracurricular activities as part of their core education. All these activities will pay off later in their life.

I think the most important thing I have understood during the training, was the effectiveness of such kind of trainings, and non-formal education. This type of education represents the most powerful tool to learn something new and to remember something afterward. It is important that each participant learn new things in his way and is ready to share the information with others. I work as a trainer with young people therefore see a possibility to share with them information related to NEET issue and the ways how not to fall into this category.
