#PJstories – Interview with James Bambalyan

James Bambalyan participated in the Training Course “The NEET Challenge” organized by PROJUVEN in Torremolinos, Spain

Hello James! Can you give us your opinion about the project “The NEET Challenge“? According to you, what support works best for young people at risk of becoming NEET?

I was very fortunate to have already taken part in two Erasmus + projects hosted by PROJUVEN in Torremolinos, Spain, and the experience I had there is simply priceless. The meeting of so many curious young people who are motivated to gain new experiences, go through a learning process that expands their worldview, creates new friendships.

The project was designed to be very informative. The trainers gradually introduced us to the specific of NEETs. The activities and leraning aproach quickly made the problematic of this topic clear. The exploration of the topic on the basis of group work ensured that everyone could familiarize themselves intensively with their focal points.

The best way to get this high number of unemployed young people out of this situation is to found an authority, that deals intensively with this target group in order to protect them from this situation while preventing it. It should not be forgotten that these young people have their whole lives ahead of them and we as a society have an interest in their welfare and education. Especially since the system in Germany is based on the generation contract, where the younger generation works for the older generation in order to support our social system. The most important thing in this training course was the knowledge I got about NEET in the different European countries and about the problem in general. It is well recognized that there is such a huge problem and now its important that we as a society talk on this topic. Especially we as participants in this training course should make our immediate environment aware of this problem. I raised this issue directly with my student group.
