#PJstories – Interview with Ester Rodríguez

Ester participated in the Youth Exchange Inter(national) Volunteering” in Modra, Slovakia

Hello Ester! Can you give us an overall opinion on the project  Inter(national) Volunteering?

It was my first project of this type and I did not know very well what I was going to find, but the experience has been unsurpassed. From the moment I arrived at Modra I felt very comfortable, the people, the house, the activities … everything was great, even the chef deserves a special mention for being so attentive to each of our needs and treating us so well. It did not take long for all of us to feel like a family. The organization was perfect, we started with activities that helped us to get to know each other, break the ice, and then we started introducing ourselves to volunteering. I was so impressed of the people`s stories who had lived this experience and now I am convinced that I also want to experience it.

How did the group affect your personal experience during this youth exchange?

The Spanish group could not be better, having met these people is the best thing that I take from the project, five people so different but with the same desire to learn and have fun. We are already preparing our next meeting! And the same can be said of the others, I take a little bit of each one, of their countries and their experiences. Thank you!

What is the most important thing you have learned during the project?

If you ask any of my friends they would not believe that I could speak in front of a class of teenagers … and in English! Probably one of the most important things I have learned is to control the nerves speaking in public and throwing myself with English, although I’m wrong. Even so, I still have a lot to improve and I’m looking forward to repeating soon to get it.

Thank you very much Projuven for this opportunity!
