#PJstories – Interview with Celia Aguado

Celia participated in the Youth Exchange “ECOPHOTO” in Novoli, Italy

Hello Celia ¿Can you give us an overall opinion on the project ECOPHOTO?

In general, it has been an opportunity for those of us who have participated to become aware of the impact that the human have on the environment and, at the same time, to find a tool to fight against it: photography, which we can use to raise the awareness of the other people about this problem. In addition, we have been able to relate to other people of different cultures and personalities what has complemented this experience, allowing us to learn from each other. Therefore, it is a project that opens the mind and lets discover new realities due to the organizers, the activities and the participants themselves.

How did the group affect your personal experience during this youth exchange?

The fact of having so many different people enriched the personal and the group reflection and, obviously, the final result. It also allowed us to enjoy knowing each other and in the end we achieved a good understanding and cohesion as a team, creating strong bonds of friendship between us that will hardly break despite the distance.

What is the most important thing you have learned during the project?

For me the most important thing I have learned is the need to fight against plastics, one of the most polluting waste that we generate and that affects especially to marine species. I am also more aware about the importance of building a sustainable development and I have been able to reflect and experiment on the real possibilities of moving forward on this path towards an environmental culture that can be the basis of a new lifestyle.
