Aspazia participated in the Training Course “No more time 4 hate” organized by PROJUVEN in Torremolinos, Spain
Hello Aspazial! Can you give us your opinion about the project “No more time 4 hate”?
The project was successful, very well organized and with a theme related to the real requirements of the society we live in.
The main purpose of the project has been achieved. Youth workers have acquired the skills and knowledge they need to develop practical tools and counter-arguments for online hate speech that they can use in working with young people in local communities.
Why should we fight/be aware of online hate speech? Is it a danger for our society?
Yes, online hate speech is a danger to society. The communicative potential of the Internet helps to spread hate speech of a nationalist, racist or religious nature, which can incite discrimination, hostility and violence. This reality been at the basis of our project, to mitigate the negative effects of young people’s behavior in the online environment.
What is the most important thing you have learned during the project? Are you going to apply some methods/knowledge in your local community?
The most important thing we learned was that we can make the change and motivate the young people with whom we work to make responsible and sure use of technology and the Internet. This is how we combat cyberbullying. At local level, we also organized cyberbylling activities #FărăUrăPeNet) and I will continue to do such activities. The exercises made during the project related to cybergylling I will apply to my community. I have noted all of the ice breakers, energizers, name games, reflection groups during the mobility, and I will use them in my activities with young people.
Information about this project will also be broadcast on the TV station BucovinaTV.
